New Orleans, LA
Thanks everybody for the great turn out at last night's meeting!

Matt Wisdom gave us an inside look into the city's current tech infrastructure and what the city is trying to do to improve and stabilize its IT. We will certainly be keeping tabs on this issue, as I know a lot of our members want to connect with the city's IT department when it gets up on its feet. So thanks Matt for the talk, and keep us posted!

Upcoming events:

Local developers, designers, SEO folks, social media marketers, content writers, videomakers etc should make sure to take advantage of this awesome piece of work created by Matt Tritico & Joe Ellis (& some others) to show off local web talent. So create an account if you offer any of those kinds of services, and remember to point people to http://localsource.it the next time you're asked about where to find those services in New Orleans!

Ruby Nuby
Ruby Nuby founder Malcolm Arnold skyped in to tell us about their efforts to partner professional Ruby on Rails developers with at-risk youth to build long-lasting opportunities for the kids and give some local businesses, artists, & chefs some great websites along the way. To play a part in those efforts, join the Ruby Nuby meetup group and make sure to vote for them in the British Airways contest! You can also get in touch with James Thompson (@plainprogrammer) for more info or to connect with the efforts locally.

Job Opportunities!
- Berning Marketing is looking for a .NET programmer. Interested folks should email tberning@berning.com.
- Booz Allen Hamilton, a strategy & tech consulting firm, is looking for someone locally with experience in military security and/or information assurance. Also something about DIACAP, which if you know what that is, you may be qualified for this job! for more info, email Michael Pitre (the guy who talked to us about the marine presence in nola a couple of months ago) at pitre_michael@bah.com

Stay tuned for podcasting, the Netty's, and more!
Well that's all for this month. Next month we'll be learning the basics of podcasting from our friends in the New Orleans New Media Collective, which we think will be useful info for everyone. And then we'll be celebrating this year in tech with our annual Netty Awards! Stay tuned for an email in the next couple of weeks for an email asking for nominations for our various categories, and vote!

Cheers,
