New Orleans, LA
We've had a slew of requests for announcements in the middle of this month of things happening before the next meetup, so here's a quick update on what's going on:
First, at GNOCode tonight at 7pm at Launch Pad (643 Magazine St, Suite 102), Douglas Finley will present on his experiences working with the Google App Engine.
Tomorrow, the IGDA (International Game Developers Association) will have the first meeting of its New Orleans chapter. It's a meetup for game developers, potential game developers, and regular ol' gaming enthusiasts... no experience necessary. That meeting kicks off tomorrow, Oct 21 at 6pm in Launch Pad's (643 Magazine St, Suite 102) conference room, and is being sponsored by TurboSquid. Word on the street is there will be pizza, and you never know -- it may get crazy and break out into a LAN party.
We of Net2NO have been cordially invited by the Louisiana State Museum to attend an exhibit preview and reception for its upcoming Katrina & Beyond, which is a huge multi-media exhibit exploring the city and the storm. The event will be on Tuesday, October 29 from 6-9pm and is free for Net2NO members (did I forget to mention they're serving free cocktails?). You can check out the details here.
That leads us right into TribeCon happening Thursday, October 28 on the grounds of Voodoo Music Experience. Make sure to check out the awesome line up of speakers and buy your tickets!
Finally, on November 12, a slew of Tulane associations are hosting an Invention to Venture Workshop to discuss social and commercial innovation in New Orleans. The keynote speakers are Mr. Bill Shore, Founder & Executive Director of Share Our Strength, and Dr. John Elstrott, Chairman of the Board of Whole Foods Market. Details here.
We hope to see you all at Le Chat on November 2, and to paraphrase the WWOZ Livewire:
Get out there, support, and enjoy some live local tech events!
