RPGs thus far :

D&D - Spring Break!

Well done, you brave adventurers, you! You just finished your third semester in Adventuring University and are almost ready to face a world of rust monsters and stirges (nice and easy low level challenges, perfect to get the hands on experience you need to find a real job in medusae extermination and purple worm control). But first you treat yourself to a relaxing vacation in the village you grew up in. Put your feet up, before having to put your head down, so to speak. Hmmm, mom's apple pie. The thought alone is making your mouth water. However, something is amiss...

This is an introductory adventure for people who are just new to D&D, or may have never played any roleplaying game before, or people who just like to play low-level characters. You will play a 1st level adventurer; a basic fighter, cleric, or even a spell-slinging mage. No worries if you never played before. We will go through all the basics you need to know, and skip the rules that only complicate matters. The idea is to have fun!

Desired group: 4 - 6 Beginner player friendly

The only way to ensure a spot in this game is to answer the question in the RSVP stating that. For any other questions about game particulars, contact the GM: Ramon

Players so far, in order of RSVP: Jana & Jana's +1, Lindsay, Jan, Evante Garza-Licudine, Eugenio Bargiacchi

Far, Far West - What happens in Crashaw...

Somewhere on the border of United Frontier space, a small group of freelancers are starved for work when they are contacted by an old contact in the federal force. A dangerous fugitive has recently made off with sensitive government information and sought refuge in the seedy rebel city of Crashaw, hoping to sell the documents. The feds are looking to hire a 3rd party to infiltrate this hostile territory without risking political unrest.

Disclaimer: Far, Far West is a work in progress system in a space western setting. This session is meant as a beta test, any constructive criticism is appreciated.
Recommended you bring: Paper, pencil, polyhedral dice (d4 trough d12, preferably 2 of each)

Desired group: 3-5 players of any experience level.

The only way to ensure a spot in this game is to answer the question in the RSVP stating that. For any other questions about game particulars, contact the GM: Rolf

Mutants & Masterminds 2nd ed. - Return of Shadow

“Hello team. Welcome to Operation: Safety Pin. During the last week, city counselor Ray Gaglardi has received three death threats. The paper ignited a few seconds after they were opened, the calling card of a super-villain named Pyrestorm. Your number one priority will be to protect Gaglardi."

This is an introductory Mutants and Masterminds 2nd ed. adventure, intended as a starting adventure for an Agents of Freedom campaign. Return of SHADOW establishes the player characters as a new AEGIS squad in Freedom City. (Agents are street-level superheroes of moderate power level).

Recommended you bring: Standard dice, pencil and an interest in being a superhero. Characters of PL6 will be provided.

Your mind is software. Program it. Your body is a shell. Change it. Death is a disease. Cure it. Extinction is approaching. Fight it.

Ni hao, friend. Your urgent assistance is needed. It has come to our attention that an unknown art dealer in your vicinity is seeking to sell certain masterpieces to the highest bidder. Please investigate and ascertain the nature of the artwork and its potential impact on the public. If it is truly of masterpiece quality, do whatever it takes to keep this artwork from falling into a private collection. You have three collaborators in your vicinity to help with your assessment. Keep us apprised of your progress.

A band of heroes, returning from war far overseas have arrived on Kasos and been invited to the wedding, as befits their station. As the wine flows and sheep roast it seems that the occasion must truly be blessed...
--- The Wedding of Leocedes will run using the Agon system ( http://www.agon-rpg.com/ ), in which heroes compete for glory in mythic Greece. Think 'Jason and the Argonauts', 'Troy', that kind of thing.

I had a great time running the FATE Star Wars game. I learned a lot. I would like to thank my awesome players for being absolutely true to the SW epic swashbuckling style. We powered away from an imploding planet... nuff said.

I am still learning the FATE ropes, but it certainly has lots of potential for telling great stories.

      September 17, 2013

    • Marjolein N.

I liked how easy it was to just play a character. Being a nOOb ment last time, with D&D, that I had to spend a lot of energy and focus on remembering stats and spells and when to do what, this was immediate play. Had great fun.

      1 · September 18, 2013

I had a lot of fun running the M&M game. Great group, nice story. Would love to run an M&M campaign. Or a D&D campaign, or Paranoia or .. (choices:)

Had a lot of fun at the Far Far West game. Great job by the GM, hope to see this system again in the future!

  • Alex

Had a great time at the game of Mutants & masterminds. It seems that not all superheroes have a deeply engraved set of morals... especially our bunch. Too bad that the 2Klaveren closed earlier than expected so additional games were not possible due to time constraints. Had a nice meal and good company/talks to finish the day with a blast. (EXPLOSIONS!!!!!!)

i think a good time was had by all.

Had a great time running a game for some newer players. I think they really got in the spirit of things, killing their zombie parents and siblings :)

I'm running 10-15 mins late as well. But Agon is all good to go when I arrive...

Just missed my train so I'll probably be about 10-15 minutes late. Don't give away my hero spot! :)

Have to pull out I'm afraid. Don't want to bring Freshers flu to everyone! :-( Sorry for the last minute drop out.

Another couple of questions... Anyone travelling from den haag who can take a passenger? Willing to pay. Also, is there any fee for the meet?

    September 14, 2013

    • Ben

Hi Anna. Our regular events are fee to attend. We operate off donations. I hope you find a ride!

      September 14, 2013

    • Anna N.

I will come on train if not, a lift would be quicker though!

      September 14, 2013

  • Anna N.

Hey I'm still not listed for a game, will I be able to join one?

    September 13, 2013

    • Tim

I've put you on the Waiting List for the game you chose as your first preference, Mutants and Masterminds. id not see a second choice.

      September 13, 2013

    • Tim

Oops, hit enter too fast! We do our best to make sure that everyone who turns up gets a chance to sit down and play a game. We give you seats at a game in order of RSVP, and put you on waiting lists for games when they are full. When you come to the even you will be given the option to sign up to one of the games that have seats available. During the event you have a game token you can trade with others for a seat at the game you want. The "Waiting List" for a game means you have first call on a seat at a game in the case of no-show players, again in order of RSVP. So come along, fun is to be had!

Hoi, sorry but got a work problem for sunday afternoon that wasn't planned and won't be able to attend...

  • Fabio B.

I'd like to join the D&D game or host one (maybe using one of Wizards' modules). What edition will be used ?

    August 25, 2013

    • Fabio B.

Depending on preferences of people I'd be up to run 3.5 (which I prefer) or 4e (which is more friendly toward new players).

I'd strongly like someone to step up as a DM, otherwise I'll pick up a WoTc adventure and we can play that.

      September 10, 2013

    • Tim

@Jana The only thing you absolutely need to bring is your imagination, but usually people bring their own gaming dice :), and newcomers are always welcome!

      September 13, 2013

  • Fabio B.

Are there enough people to support a second group of D&D ? Would please all interested in either 4e or 3.5 reply below so we can make a roll call and see if we can get a 2nd group up & running ?

    2 · September 10, 2013

    • seraphimpunk

Yep, ABC has a good dice selection alongside their roleplaying game books.

      1 · September 13, 2013

    • Fabio B.

      Thanks Seraph for the tip!

I have ready an adventure for Sunday in case we got enough to get a 2nd group going. Type: 4e
      Level: 1

If you are interested in D&D and not in Ramon's group, pm me your sheet (or start working on one!).

for doubts, questions, feel free to pm me.

      September 13, 2013

  • Martijn

Does anyone know the parking situation around the Twee Klaveren? Is it free on Sunday?

    September 12, 2013

    • Ben

A while back, a guildy reported that some parking in the area was free on Sundays, maybe having to do with the street or side of the bridge. The gemeente has a good map, it's linked in the message boards somewhere. Try searching in there for 'parking'

      September 12, 2013

    • Martijn

Looks like it's free around the Twee Klaveren on Sundays. Thanks!

    September 11, 2013

  • Tim N.

I just looked at the blurb for my FATE Star Wars game and realized that it is slightly ambiguous. You do NOT need to bring FATE dice and I do not expect anyone to know the FATE system: learning it is very, very quick and easy. Pre-generated characters will be provided but you can customize them!

    September 11, 2013

  • Evan F.

Hey, I just want to make sure that I am registered as being signed up for the Star Wars FATE game. doesn't look like I'm on the player list.

    September 10, 2013

    • Tim N.

Hi Evan - did you answer the question in the RSVP?

      September 10, 2013

  • Anna N.

Hey, I'd like to join! Any space on mutants and masterminds or call of cthulu? I've not played either before, only pathfinder, but those are systems I've wanted to try for a while!

    September 8, 2013

    • Anna N.

Hi, I put both in my RSVP :)

      September 10, 2013

Hi everyone - this will be my first meetup. Any interest in me running 1. Sorcerer, 2. The Regiment/Colonial Marines or 3. Probable Cause?

    1. Dark Places is my scenario that ran on Fastaval in 2005 - crime and lowlife in California. Think Ellroy. Premade characters.

    2. Basically Aliens running on the Apocalypse World engine - playtest version written by Paul Riddle and John Harper. Superfast character gen.

    3. My own police/crime game i development. Runs on the Mouse Guard engine.

All three games are highly player driven (no GM plot/story or such). For all players, albeit mature themes an content.

Cool! I can come to this one. Just don't know which game to join. Am newish to role playing. Prefer games that are less "crunchy" but am pretty flexible. Anyone want to take me under their wing?

    August 14, 2013

    • Ben

We ask all GMs to list their preferred level of player experience, and all the games this month are open to any level of experience (so far). The D&D game is specifically listed as "Beginner player friendly". Basically, just pick the one whose description appeals to you the most. Rules tend to be secondary to fun at our events!
