Yardley Stammtisch

The Yardley (/Newtown) Stammtisch is starting back up again. Come by the newly-renovated Continental Tavern on Main Street in Yardley to meet German speakers and practice your conversation. We will be meeting every other Wednesday, unless otherwise noted (so please check the calendar).

Stammtisch is a very informal event: people come and go when they wish. If you arrive and no one is there, you may just be the first person to arrive. Let the staff know and they will set up the Stammtisch table for you. We are usually upstairs or downstairs in the back corner.

There is no event fee - each participant pays for his or her own food and beverages. Please be courteous to our hosts and at least purchase a drink and/or small appetizer. Many Stammtischers order dinner as well, so feel free to come with an appetite. Be sure to tip generously as a "thank you" for hosting us every other week.

The amerikanische "Du" rule is always in effect - das heisst everyone here is on a first name basis, and may be addressed as "Du" rather than as "Sie." This is to facilitate informal conversation and to eliminate anxieties and misunderstandings that can arise when native and non-native speakers converse in German in an American social setting.

      Lieber Erwin,
      LG
