Again, brain topics are tough ones and challenge most of our presuppositions. It will get emotional. There will be fireworks. We'll have diverse levels of interest and knowledge. We also need rules of engagement for discussions, avoiding dominance and personal comments and allowing all diverse voices to be heard. It will take time to work all this out in an iterative process - trial with lots of error, of course. Suggestions, criticisms and music recommendations always welcome. This was Round 1. Join us for Round 2 in Janurary when we will include the skeptic folks. Even more fireworks promised!

Thanks for the greeting and info about the group. I grew up on a cattle and crop farm.
I will settle for a bar on the north side - although a trip to the French Riviera would be nice too!
Hi Elmer. Our group, Chicago Area Brain Network, is on LinkedIN. We do have gatherings... and yes we do offer adult beverages and sometimes cake among other things. I'm new to meetup...don't know how this works. Nice to meet ya'll.
Our site is IllinoisScience
.org. There may be one for the series at Brains.Illinois
Science.org but I haven't had time to do that yet. But the ticket site is working at http://brainscience.eventbrite.com/![]()
Would be happy to talk, will have to be next week. I'm juggling a ton this week and have to go to Springfield tomorrow and Wed. Let me know a when next week would be convenient for you and we'll find a time for a call. Best to email me at [masked].
Thanks!
Hi Elmer,
All the programs are free, but we strongly recommend ('require') people register for seats at that brainscience.ev
entbrite.com site. These will be more widely promoted than our usual events, so I'm expecting (well, maybe just wishful thinking, but hopeful) they see good attendance.
Monica
and thank you! I'm glad to be a part of this group!
lol a burner is someone who is part of the Burning Man community. and a gamer is someone who plays games such as video games/rpgs. :)
I agree with you that women are "robust". Her name is Lily.
I'm not sure how strong the evidence is but hey, I have no complaint if woman's brains are better than man's! :)
Haha, wonder if that's inherent or environmental (e.g. parents/grandpa
rents/care-give
rs/teacher
s unconsciously "rewards" a cute girl for being cute and adorable...). She is 4.
She knows she is cute and is very proud of that! :)
