This is a joint meetup with the Edmonton Foodies. As I had to cancel the strawberry picking for July 20, as they aren't going to be ready 'til next week, I moved this event up a week. Reservations for 16 at Thai Mekong has been made, with 5 taken by the Foodies. Will adjust the reservation if there are more than 16 in total interested.
PLEASE READ ALL THE EVENT DETAILS AS IT SHOULD ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.
It takes about 2-2.5 hrs to go thru all the vendors. The market opens at 10, but it will be very busy when we get there, as about 10,000 people go there every Saturday.
Most vendors take CASH ONLY.
There are plenty of opportunities to sample the food products but save some room for Thai Mekong. As you probably guessed, it's a Thai restaurant. I haven't been there before (the market I've been to about 30+ times), as it opened after I moved from St. Albert. Solid 92% rating on urbanspoon.
We'll meet at the Free Park N' Ride shuttle bus stop at St. Albert Centre Mall(375 St. Albert Trail). I will Email those attending(on Friday, July 19 after I get back from Taste of Edm.) what I drive (so you can easily find me) and my cell # if you're going to be late. I don't have internet on my phone, so don't post a message that you're running late. I'll meet you at the bus stop, so you can join the rest of us. After we're done our shopping at the farmers market(about 2-2.5 hrs), we'll take the bus back and drive down the trail to Thai Mekong-about 5 min. away.
RESERVATIONS for 16 Foodies(John) are made for 1 PM.
Things to bring: a hat, put on sunscreen before you leave home, 1-2 cloth bags for your purchases, a bottle of water or there are vendors that serve fresh lemonade, etc., camera and comfy shoes. You should also bring a cooler and some ice to keep your food items you bought at the market cold while we chow down at Thai Mekong.
