Amateur Astronomers Association of New York Lecture Series

The Amateur Astronomers Association is proud to present an astronomy lecture series from October through May each year for our members and the public. Everyone is welcome to attend. Admission to the lecture is free, and no reservations or tickets are required. The lectures are held at the Kaufmann Theater of the American Museum of Natural History, on Central Park West between 77th and 81st streets. Please use the 77th Street entrance. Lectures begin at 6:15 p.m. and run to 8:00 p.m.

Meetup friends will group up in the 4th and 5th rows on house right. Afterwards, we'll go across the street to Shake Shack for a burger and a beer!

I enjoyed it but completely failed to find the group before or after...

I enjoyed as well and also failed to find the group before or after. Perhaps next time when we are not all bundled for the Arctic and more easily identified.

Maybe next time someone can suggest a nearby cafe for everyone to meet 30 minutes before the start time.

I chickened out because it as cold, but, Christine has a good point though. Many past meetups in large auditoriums were difficult to find.

    Is the museum open today?
Is the astronomy lecture still on?

I'm a member of the Amateur Astronomy Association, so if they cancel the event I'll probably get an email (which I haven't yet) and I'll keep you posted.
This snowstorm is not big deal. The streets of Manhattan are clear at this point and the buses are running just fine.

The AMNH website specifically says the museum is open today.

I thought that was an awesome poem 'neverboring'! I might defy the weather and turn up tomorrow, a not very brave thing to do as I'm presently living approx. 5 min walk from the museum. The positive thing reg the weather may be that the line out/inside Shake Shack for once probably won't be very long..
