Magic in the Mundane - NYC Scavenger Hunt

In the spirit of Columbus Day, we're inviting you to "discover" what is already there, hidden in plain sight, and explore our fair city with fresh eyes. Come with a Metrocard, an open mind, a camera, a pen & notebook, and the rest of your scavenger supplies will be provided upon arrival.

This is a Family Friendly Event, and all ages are welcome! Teams will be in groups of 3 or 4. Bring your "teammates" with you, or just join a team when you arrive. We'll be searching for Magic in the Mundane, places and spaces in the city that we're usually too distracted and too busy to notice. Participants will be provided with an exploration map with clues to various locations, and exercises to play during your journey, designed to generate awareness and engagement in the hunt! Hunt area will take place in Lower Manhattan, from 14th Street to Canal.

We'll be keeping in touch from The Interdependence Project via text, and teams can contact us with questions. Each team will be given three "Phone a Friend" Clues, so if you get stumped, just text us for a hint. We'll also be sending out group texts to each team thirty minutes before the Hunt closes to signal that it's time to make your way back to IDP. Many of the Hunt activities require a camera (a camera phone is perfect--nothing fancy required) and while only one camera per group is necessary, we recommend all or most teammates to have one with them so that everyone can participate. There will be a mix and mingle after the Hunt with snacks to share our discoveries and discuss our adventures!

Coordination Meetup: 11am at The Interdependence Project
