Mattt Thompson: "What I Learned From AFNetworking's GitHub Issues"

We're very excited to have Mattt Thompson (@mattt) presenting this month while he's out on the east coast. If you're not yet acquainted with Mattt, he is a developer and designer working at Heroku in San Francisco. Mattt is the creator of Induction, a polyglot database client, and, the easiest way to run PostgreSQL on the Mac. Mattt also wrote and maintains several open source projects, including AFNetworking, FormatterKit, and TTTAttributedLabel. He previously worked as an iOS developer and Ruby hacker at Gowalla.

Here's a description of the presentation that Mattt has planned:
"It can be said that GitHub Issues are the hacker's equivalent of the classical Greek forum. Like the ancient philosophers before us, here the leading minds in open source gather to discuss the programming topics of our day. In this talk, we'll dig through AFNetworking's backlog to discover and dissect the epic debates, lofty ideas, and occasionally-fierce rhetorical exchanges contained within those hallowed threads."

We'll be hosted at a new location this month, the TechStars office, thanks to Leon S! A couple of the TechStars companies will also give short presentations to kick off the meetup.

Mattt's presentation was fantastic and all the TechStars folks did a great job with their intro pitches. Thanks for coming everyone, and to Leon and TechStars for hosting us.

Very practical presentation. It was interesting to hear his experience on such a popular open source project; not many of us have that experience to share.

I am very excited to announce the approval and availability of my first iOS app. It's called WhatPaint. WhatPaint stores the details of your Paint Project. Looking forward to my third NYC iOS meetup. More info on my app can be found on

Question to the group: How do I create projects with user code snippets and make that the snippets are included if I pass on the projects to others?
I cannot find any documentation on this.
