Your experience and interest in Android is particularly welcome with smartphones eliminating the need for dedicated hardware devices to capture sensor signals. Body network protocols are being used to minimize sensor power demands and that is not included in the typical Androd developers toolkit. At this point these applications are vendor and chronic disease specific and it is desirable to make them common, attractive and easy to use.
