London Economics Debating Society Message Board › Saturday meetup

Saturday meetup

A former member
Quick summary on Sat meetup, as requested:

There was some consensus on re-enacting the Glass-steagall Act i.e. separate investment from commercial banking completely and while some agreed with the narrow banking idea. Basel III and community banking was generally ignored as rubbish. The most -startling- revelation came from our engaging banker friend, who believed that investment banking is dying its own death, not as the result of the crisis but because of rapid expansion in technology. Never got talking about sovereign bonds!

It was fun ! but requires more debates.
