#London FCA Consultation - The new Payments Regulator (Free, attendance deposit)

NB. This is a FREE event but we ask for an attendance deposit which will be refunded immediately after the session

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone,

This workshop follows on from our 4th June 2013 Opening up UK Payments Consultation to HM Treasury. Read our group response here.

The outcome of the consultation was that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will now establish a new regulator for payment systems in the UK. The new ‘Payments Systems Regulator’ or ‘PSR’, will be incorporated as a subsidiary of the FCA by April 2014, and will be fully operational in April 2015.

The FCA has published a Call for Inputs,  seeking views on the current state of the UK payment systems landscape. This is to help the new regulator to develop its regulatory approach and identify early priorities for action. All stakeholders and participants in UK payment systems are invited to respond to the regulator once it is incorporated with their views.

The consultation directly impacts FinTech Innovation, in particular where smaller players like start-ups are concerned and in all areas including mobile payments. This group has one of the highest concentrations of FinTech Entrepreneurial talent and expertise in the UK and we therefore propose to put together a group response.

                                                  Agenda

1. Workshop Preparation for Delegates

It's essential that you read the Consultation Document before you attend the Workshop. We'll have printed copies to work from on the day.

2. Workshop Agenda

Roundtables - we'll break into tables of six, each will appoint a Team Leader to take the table through the key consultation questions and document the responses.

Short Tea/Coffee break

Debrief and learning - Each Team Leader will present their table's responses to the group for open discussion

3. Post-Workshop

We'll put together a draft response for circulation to all Delegates for comments, iterate once or twice until finalised and then submit the final document to the FCA.

All Delegates and their Companies will be cited as contributors in the final report.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally I'd like to thank Wragge&Co for kindly hosting the Workshop, Sponsors make our events possible and accessible to all

Cheers

If it wasn't a school night I'd love to join. I spend a lot of my working life wrestling with the system as we have it now!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
