#London Innovations in Islamic FinTech - Roundtable discussion

Hi Everyone,

This is a joint event with the UKTI and the UK Israel Tech Hub

We hope you'll join us for our first seminar on FinTech Innovation opportunities in Islamic Finance.

The UK is well established as a global player in the Islamic Finance industry. More than a dozen banks deliver Islamic finance transactions and there is hardly a large professional services firm that does not have specialist Islamic finance teams.

It is also one of the most significant Financial Technology clusters in the world with an extensive and growing ‘FinTech’ community within TechCity. Investment into FinTech in the UK has increased exponentially over the last few years and London now sits alongside New York and Silicon Valley as one of the top FinTech Innovation centres globally.

The purpose of this event is to bring together the growing number of interested parties in Islamic FinTech for an exploratory discussion to examine the application of technological innovation to Islamic financial services. The global market for Islamic services is significant and the technology exists today to reach out far and wide to deliver services digitally and through multiple channels.

This is where technology can facilitate, firstly, in demystify misconceptions for practitioners and consumers and also to advocate its true economic nature as a viable alternative contender in the conventional financial arena. Only then we will be able to achieve a long term economic social justice with in the UK.

As a next step we need to arrange practitioner workshops to understand the Islamic Finance proposition. Well done Eddie and his team for initiating this forum.

Look forward to seeing you guys again.

........from previous due to word restriction.......

I have great hope and expectations that UK is not only going to be the hub of Islamic Finance (Inshallah- God willing) but UK will take the lead in defining new paradigms and policies for Islamic Finance for others to follow.

Forums like 'FinTec' can facilitate this transition. I believe there is a great need for awareness and rational definition with regards to Islamic Finance, as Islamic Finance popularity in my opinion is not only based on religious sentiment any more but it has much more to offer.

It was a pleasure to meet all of you. A great event.

I strongly believe that the 'London Innovation in Islamic FinTech' forum can play a pivotal role in promoting UKTI's vision of Islamic Finance.

It was my fortune that I was already in London for the past two days attending the other UKTI event '2014 London Sukuk Summit'. I believe UKTI is headed in the right direction in its quest for Islamic finance. This new emerging economic financial system - (Islamic Finance) needs much careful thought and consideration.........

Greatly enjoyed presenting at the meetup last night and all the conversations. Murabaha transactions are used across the Islamic world where conventional finance would use an interest-bearing deal so there is potential to use this mechanism in diverse financial scenarios. Initially baffling, but murabaha rewards persistence and there are many possible applications. Thanks Eddie & Team for organising.

Is a challenge to "understand" correctly the principles of the Islamic finance, to help the changes to the the mistakes, the financial crisis and economical unfairly of our "Christian" finance of the Western countries, which we have exported in the entire world.
Some one call it also "Ethical" Finance" therefore, despite scholarships and interpretations, we have to review our principles and and economical dogmas which some of them are clearly false and unworkable.
The Euro is a clear example of violation of the basic principles of the Fundamental Equation of Monetary, bringing the false creation of the Public Debit. Is a technical fraud which is creating millions of slaves, despite the formation of Monetary Reform movements in all Europe to wake up the people. Unfortunately it is not enough.
Any technical innovation cannot exit over an unethical frauds or political lies. We have to review our basics first and to be the real "owners" of our money printing it directly.

    Hello All
Regarding the Financial Technology event, can this be associated with innovative 'Marketing' in Islamic Finance.

    May 29, 2014

    • Eddie G.

The topic is specifically Innovations in Islamic Financial Technology which should keep us more than occupied at this inaugural event, we may consider other related tech areas for possible future events
