Generative Art Lightning Talks, Round 2

The first lightning talks went really well, and I think everyone had other topics to talk about. Let's do another round.

Sorry we skipped April's meetup! Let's get one on the schedule for May or June.

Do we want to try another project show-n-tell night, or try something else?

I have at last one small thing to present - just some technical details on creating vector graphics in Processing. I usually try to keep my presentations short (don't know if they end up that way!).

Ok! I'll put something on the schedule for late June. (Since this got away from me anyway.) Also, Michael: congratulations!

I've created a central discussion area at https://github.com/NewHavenGenerativeArt/GenArt/issues - it's a github repo without code. You'll need a github account, and then you don't have to rely on a specific meetup event for discussions. Hope we have another one soon!

I think this might be of greatest interest to Will but you all will likely be fascinated by this short demo of Pixar's latest tool, Presto: http://fastcompany.com/3028728/the-recommender/watch-pixars-new-animation-system-make-monsters-in-real-time. They are using some serious hardware there. :Q____

Not gonna be able to make it this week. Sorry :-(

Looking forward to it. Not sure what to present, but I'll think of something!

So, there's a GitHub repo for discussion (and code, perhaps) at https://github.com/NewHavenGenerativeArt/GenArt

I created it under a an organization "NewHavenGenerativeArt" instead of a personal account -- easier to transfer ownership.

The only github account I knew was Dan Gries', so he was made an owner alongside me. Others can be added.

    Have at it!

NOTE: you don't actually have to be an owner or member to participate in the forum. Or you shouldn't have to be. The point of multiple owners is continuity, in case somebody gets hit by a bus or swears off computing.

      Ahh, good clarification. Thx.

I, uh, may even present something this time. I just finished a 5-week MOOC on processing, and am brimming with overconfidence!

NaNoGenMo used a github-repository-without-code as a discussion board, all within the "issues" - https://github.com/dariusk/NaNoGenMo/issues Would anybody be interested in something like that for the GenArt group? There are certainly better solutions, but this takes about 10 seconds to implement....

Not a bad idea. We could even post code in there from time to time, as projects come up or whatever.
