Edinburgh Festival - Fringe Adventure

This event is now SOLD OUT. Please feel free to join a waiting list at:

Please join Curious Kat’s Adventure Club for the world famous Fringe, the festival in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh City is a treat in itself. Scotland’s capital, with its beautiful and dramatic skyline, is truly one of the world’s greatest cities.

The cobbled streets of the Old Town lead you past mysterious gothic buildings, up to the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, the center piece of the city. Below the Castle’s rocky pinnacle lies the New Town to the north with its 200 year old Georgian splendour.

During Fringe it really comes to life, buzzing with street performers, visitors and night life. More about the festival at the end of the event description. The trip I prepared for you tries to capture the essence of it all, leaving you with a bit of free time to explore and hang out about the town.

Plan of the trip

Friday, 8 August 2014

19:00 From London King's Cross, arriving in Edinburgh at 23:30.

We will take the 19:00 train from King’s Cross. The trains make the trip a bit more expensive, but they are so much more comfortable than the flights and only take 4 hours and 30 minutes city centre to city centre, without us having to pay for the extra expensive airport transport, go through the check in, security and wait for hours, just to find out that Easy Jet has been late again. And we have the flexibility to choose the time we travel at, so we don’t even have to take a day off from work on Friday and we can get back at a decent time on Sunday evening. We will arrive in Edinburgh at 23:30.

We will be staying in a lovely hostel (more details below) located in a walking distance from the station, right in the heart of Edinburgh. It has excellent ratings (over 90% on all scales), lovely garden and very helpful staff.

Friday night we will probably just get a good night rest to be ready for an adventure packed day on Saturday.

. Please make sure you account for the paypal fees in your calculations (so the £3.80 on top of £100 deposit should not be deducted from the reminder of the payment)

'While safety is our top priority and although we never take unnecessary risks, we do recognise that any outdoor activity/trip involves a danger of personal injury or death. Remember that you should be aware of and accept these risks as you are responsible for your own safety and you should not undertake anything beyond your abilities. It is also your responsibility to be correctly equipped for the weather and activity you have chosen to participate in.' The organiser only facilitates the group, and doesn't take responsibility for your safety during the trip.

You also confirm that you will be responsible for your own insurance and make sure that it is at an appropriate level for this trip and activities you will be participating in (if in doubt, check with your insurance provider).

With all the crazy stuff happening with the weather recently, please note that we may be prevented from doing some of activities due to unpredictable weather events. If this is the case replacement activities will be offered.

Edinburgh International Festival, it takes place annually in Scotland's capital, in the month of August. The Fringe is a showcase for the performing arts, particularly theatre and comedy (which has seen substantial growth in recent years), although dance and music are also represented. In 2012, 36% of shows were comedy and 28% theatrical productions. Theatrical productions range from the classics of ancient Greece,William Shakespeare andSamuel Beckett to modern works. In 2012, 1,418 shows were having their world premiere.

The Fringe is an unjuried festival – with no selection committee, and therefore any type of performance may participate. The Fringe has often showcased experimental works that might not be invited to a more conservative arts festival. In addition to ticketed, programmed events, the Festival has included astreet fair, located primarily on the Royal Mile. The Festival is organized by the Festival Fringe Society, which publishes the programme, sells tickets, and offers advice to performers. Their offices are on the Royal Mile

Please note that in order to keep the costs low, the trips are set up in such a way that they can be fully managed online. The descriptions are very detailed and try to answer all your questions and you will find additional information in pages section of the website. Please only email us if your query is not answered in the event's description andplease only call us in case of emergency. I'm afraid we will not be able to get back to you if your query is answered above as with over 60 events coming almost 4,000 members and current volume of emails, this would require hiring admin support and setting up a call centre, which as you can imagine would increase the costs of the events considerably. Please help us provide excellent trips at fantastic value for you and keep your emails to the minimum. Please make sure you read the event's description before contacting us.

Please note this event is organised by Curious Kat's Adventure Club and to secure your place you have to join it via this link: Please note that only once you RSVP and pay the paypal fee on the main site your place will be confirmed.
