Spanish Wine Tasting

Let's check out Grapes Wine Bar in Matthews for a Spanish Wine Tasting. The wines will be from Campo de Borja which is authorized to grow:

Red grapes: Garnacha, Tempranillo, Mazuela, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah

White grapes: Macabeo, Moscatel

Campo de Borja is a Spanish Denomiacion de Origen (DO) for wines located northwest of the provience of Zaragonza (Aragon, Spain). It is a transition zone between the plains of the River Ebro and the mountains of the Sistema Iberico. The DO comprises 16 municipalities. The Moncayo mountain is the dominant feature of teh DO and creates a microclimate which gives the wines a special character.

It should be a fantastic tasting!!

People were great and did a good presentation. Friends, new and old, were good to see and meet. Wines were light and did not include rioja or tempanillo, too bad.

Hello, Was a challenge for me to find the place, but got there, met Paula and Carl, drank some wine, ate some cheeze and crackers, learned something about what causes which after taste (guess in wine talk that is how it finishes), and had a nice time. Will do it again.

Paula was great! Many folks who rsvp'd did NOT show! Shame on you! The selection was a bit limited and not a great showing of Spanish wines. We headed out to The Ballentyne Crew meetup at Cabos. Better showing, though we had to bounce at 9:30.
