Re-opened in November 2014 after the original centuries-old restaurant burned to the ground in June 2012.
The resurrected Tavern has many pieces of the original 250 year-old restaurant woven into the new structure.

Most people know that the Tavern is old—really old. But just how old is a subject of some debate. Built in 1745 (it even says so on the menu!), it is a rare relic of Pre-Revolutionary New England designed to grind the grain raised by nearby colonial farmers. When it opened as a restaurant, we may never know.

No matter. Today, The Old Grist Mill is touted by locals as the supreme New England tavern featuring everything from steaks and chops to some of the freshest seafood dishes in all of New England. Our Crab Cakes are legendary, as is the Baked Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp. Other favorites are Clams Steamed in Garlic, Onions and White Wine, Boston Scrod, of course, and lobsters served virtually any way you like them.
