Gila National Forest, Silver City, NM
This is an easy and straightforward hike, Beginners are welcome. Long Drive for those in the North but every trip to Jordan has been worth it. We will Head out Saturday at 9 AM. We will go through Little Bear Canyon to cut off the amount of water crossings. There will be 15 crossings of the Middle Fork of the Gila River and more depending on where we camp. Wood is hard to come by if you camp next to the springs so its likely it will be a crossing or two before or after. Prepare for that. Bring water shoes and neoprene socks that you can hike in for 3 or 4 miles. A good sandal and wool socks works great as well. The water doesn't get past the knee typically, even at this time of the year. Bring warm gear, Sunday morning the sun won't hit for a while in that canyon.
