Currently enjoying a Kelty.
I enjoy immersing myself in the natural world. The physical challenges are a big draw for me also. I do a bit of car camping as well, throw all my gear in the car and be off to the mountains, canyons or deserts.
I'm here to learn; be a better person/backpacker. Approaching my 100th backpacking trip, at least half of those solo. Backpacked mountains, deserts and hundreds of canyons. Intense heat to deadly cold nights, lonely trailheads with even lonelier trails, hot springs to cold rivers, storms of all types, cougars (both types) and bears, damaged gear and/or body, armed angry locals to mellow friendly hippies, rattlesnakes and scorpions, poor maps and bad directions, fine camp dining to eating for survival, pure snowfield runoff to digging for vile water, and so many other scenarios. I've got so much more to see and do and learn from you all, I'm looking forward to it.
The Gila is my favorite. The canyons, mountains, hot springs, ruins, and the secrets. The Gila has it all. I also enjoy the more remote and less traveled central New Mexico ranges. I've gotton into the Weimanuche and South San Juan Wilderness Areas lately as well.

I'm joining up so I'm not always alone out there and to expand my skill set. So many places to go, i'm interested to hear about others backpacking adventures.
Excellent.Great way to meet other backpackers who really enjoy themselves on the trail.
