Reconnecting with nature on a regular basis brings balance to my life. The renewed energy I enjoy after a day/weekend/week in the mountains is unmatched by any other activity. The challenge of hauling it up a mountain requires both a physical and psychological endurance that includes sweating, dodging inclement weather, surviving, and using our more primitive instincts and capabilities, and the rewards are longlasting. Simply living by the sunrise and sunset in the natural world reminds us that we are not the center of the universe, and that humans are not in control. The wild shimmer in people´s eyes after having returned from a backpacking trip is fantastic too!
The Appalachains are always a favorite: from NC to NH. The volcanoes in Guatemala, the San Rafael Swell in UT, and hikes in northern CA are other sweet spots. The Pecos Wilderness is my favorite area in NM up to this point but there are still many areas that I haven´t yet explored.

I´m excited to be able to get out and backpack this year! I moved to ALBQ about a year and a half ago and have been incredibly busy with my studies and haven´t gotten out as much as I had hoped. Looking forward to a new season!
A nice variety of folks with a love for wild places and genuine conversation.
