Abita Springs - Bike Ride and Lunch

Hello Everyone! Here’s the information about the Abita Springs Bike Meetup.

We’ll actually meet in Mandeville, and then ride our bikes 9 MILES to Abita Springs on the Tammany Trace. This will take us about an hour, maybe more. When we get to Abita Springs, we’ll stop for brunch at the Abita Springs Brew Pub, the restaurant connected to the brewery. After a good lunch and a few beers, we’ll head back to Mandeville for the drive back to New Orleans.

You can rent bicycles at the Kickstand Café and Bike Rental. They rent cruisers, pictured here.
The rental rates are as follows:
$7 – one hour; $12 – two hours; $15 – three hours; $20 – eight hours.

Our excursion will likely take at least four hours total, so the eight-hour rental for $20 is the best option.

This bike ride is low-key and inclusive. For some, an eight-mile bike ride is quite a challenge. For others, eight miles is just a warm-up distance. Either way, this excursion is meant to be low on stress and high on fun. If you feel uncomfortable with the riding or you feel that you’re not able to finish the ride, let me know, and we’ll make arrangements to take you back to your car or for a ride home.

Here’s the pertinent information
Starting place – Kickstand Café, Mandeville Louisiana. (click here).
I have already reserved five bikes at the Kickstand Cafe. The reservation is under the name of Nikki Brown.
Starting time: 10 am, Sunday, April 18
Bike Trail: Tammany Trace (click here)
Brunch place: Abita Springs Brew Pub (click here)
Brunch time: 11:30am
Time to return to Mandeville: 1:30pmish
Return bikes between 3pm and 4pm (no later than 4pm, because the Kickstand Café closes at 4pm)

Miscellaneous – Dress in loose, light clothing.
Bring a large rubber band, to fit around your right ankle so your jeans don’t get caught in the bike chain.
Bring and drink lots of water.
Bug spray is also a good idea.
Bring a camera to document your fabulous-ness.

If you need a ride, please call me at[masked] by Thursday evening, April 15. We’ll find a way to get everyone there who wants to go.

Trace is pretty safe...no cars etc. so helmets seems overkill!~!
