Hike the Lafitte Corridor

Friends of Lafitte Corridor will be hosting our ninth annual Hike the Lafitte Corridor on May 11th at 10 am starting at Louis Armstrong Park and ending at City Park Avenue. The annual hike is free to the public and a great way to meet fellow Greenway enthusiasts and to learn about the history of the Corridor and the future plans for the Lafitte Greenway

The hike be starting at Congo Square at 10 AM with free registration between 9 and 9:45 AM. Bike Easy will also still be offering a bicycle safety workshop at 9 AM, and volunteers will lead small groups along the way. Register here: http://folchike2013.eventbrite....

Lets meet outside the entrance to the square (corner N. Rampart/St. Peter) around 9:30. I'll be there with a green bicycle that will have a fleur de lis flag attached. There will be a satellite view showing where to meet and a photo of the bike posted soon.

I was looking forward to it, but I was called to help out on a boat race. There's an interesting website urbanwaters.gov about an EPA fund that's helping fund some of the changes in the city. The update on current projects in nola is interesting

Looks like a wonderful event - looking forward to participating once I've relocated to the area in June! Enjoy!

Newcomer to NOLA, so interested in doing this but wondering about the logistics. If I drive to Armstrong Park then walk to City Park Avenue, will I have to walk all the way back to pick up my car again? Advice from "old hands" at this event would be appreciated!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
