100% Full Moon Paddle on Bayou St John

Hi there paddlers, I would like to invite you to a fullmoon paddle on our pretty Bayou St John. Please bring yr own boat, paddle, and flotation vest.

No rentals provided on the bayou, but you can rent from Massey's on North Carrolton.

Bring a light, a snack, some water, and your good spirit. We plan to hit the water at 7:15 pm and be out of the water by 9.15 pm-ish. The moon rises at 8.05 pm and the sun sets at 7.27 pm. Please be there at 7:00pm.

Anyone renting from Massey's? I'll pay the rental fee + 20% as a thank you for anyone who can help me rent a kayak because my car can't hold a kayak

If you can borrow straps, all you need is a big blanket. The straps go through the window and over the kayak. Also tie front and rear to the tow hooks under the car. I do not have to swing by masseys. Sorry

I would like to join you all. And Masseys does still have kayaks to rent. But I'm on a scooter right now for transportation! Can anyone help/suggestions?

    Hey All

Due to bad weather on Monday I have moved the paddle to Tuesday the 15th same time, same place. The weather for this day is dry and in the 60s.

BUT no rental possible from bayou kayaks, so people have to rent elsewhere .... Massey's on north Carrolton rents boats, but you have to take care of transport yourself ....

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm gonna have to bail on this one. Neil Degrasse Tyson is speaking at Tulane that night. Sapiosexy guy trumps moonlit kayaking. Good thing there's a full moon every month

Do they have classes for beginners? ?

    April 7

    • Maarten B.

Bayou kayaks only rents boats. There are no kayak classes in Nola. Check pack and paddle in Lafayette.

    • Maarten B.

That said, a full moon paddle is not hard for beginners! Being in shape helps.

How should we reserve our kayak if we want one?

    April 2

  • Susan

I plan on reserving 2 kayaks.

    April 6

  • Susan

I want to reserve a kayak

  • Diana Di L.

    Two questions:
I went to the website but I didn't see wherebto choose anoption for the moonlight paddle. Is there a different place to go?

If we reserve a kayak from bayoukayaks when will we know if the required 15 kayaks have been booked?

    April 5

    • Maarten B.

Hi Diana, you have to click on reservations and then the date you want to paddle on, which is Monday 14 april, on bayoukayaks.com. Otherwise contact bayou kayaks. Also about the 15 boat limit.

      April 6

  • Alison L.

Hey there! Are stand up paddleboards welcome, or only kayaks? :)

    April 3

    • Maarten B.

Hi Alison, yes you can bring your SUP or canoe, or even a paddleboat ;-)
