This Meetup is about bringing corporate professionals, skilled laborers, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and educators together to develop a new educational paradigm.

Our children are not being prepared properly, so we need to take personal responsibility to correct this.

If we don't, it will have unpleasant consequences for all of us.

The vision for this group is first to award financial aid grants and internship/mentoring opportunities to deserving urban youth in NYC, then to start a new school.

For June 2010, it is our goal to raise $10,000. That money will be divided five ways to be given to deserving students - one in each borough of NYC - $2,000 each.

By 2015, it is our objective is to create a secondary school (7th through 12th grade) in one of New York City's five boroughs based a new paradigm that adds financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and rhetoric to the standard coursework.

Let's start connecting the dots - putting educators in touch with business people and corporate professionals, so that we can work together to collaborate on these important projects.

We look forward to working with you to do right by our children. If we invest in the youth, we are investing in our future.
