New York Italians @ the Guggenheim

We invite you to join us for a visit to the Guggenheim for the,
Italian Futurism, 1909–1944: Reconstructing the Universe exhibit!

The first comprehensive overview of Italian Futurism to be presented in the United States, this multidisciplinary exhibition examines the historical sweep of the movement from its inception with F. T. Marinetti’s Futurist manifesto in 1909 through its demise at the end of World War II. Presenting over 300 works executed between 1909 and 1944, the chronological exhibition encompasses not only painting and sculpture, but also architecture, design, ceramics, fashion, film, photography, advertising, free-form poetry, publications, music, theater, and performance. To convey the myriad artistic languages employed by the Futurists as they evolved over a 35-year period, the exhibition integrates multiple disciplines in each section. Italian Futurism is organized by Vivien Greene, Curator, 19th- and Early 20th-Century Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Our New York Italians group will meet just outside the main entrance to go to the exhibit.  Please keep in mind that the museum will admit guests with "pay what you wish" policy. It is not a free or event nor is it paid by New York Italians.

Please join us following the exhibit for drinks/light meal location TBA.

Meet us at the museum and let's enjoy some Italian art with Italian conversation!

La mostra era interessante e mi è piaciuta molto, ma non ho incontrato o visto gli altri membri del Meetup. Dove eravate?!? Capisco che c'era molta gente e la fila era lunga, ma dentro non ho visto un punto di riferimento per riunirci.

Someone of the group will be there with something recognizable with the nyi logo... Maybe a small flag or hat. If you are very late we could meet inside.

Ciao a tutti! Sul sito dice che domani chiude alle 7:45...

How do we meet up at the museum? Should we plan to have our ticket by 5:45 or arrive at that time?

    February 27, 2014

    • Matteo

The plan is to meet just outside the entrance maybe a few mins before 5:45 and wait for people to come (be on time :-) . We will be in line for the ticket, if you want to get it in advance you will probably have to pay the full price. It is possible that the line would be pretty long given the pay what you wish policy after 5:45pm.

Because it is a "pay what you wish" night there are usually very long lines to get in. Couldn't we choose another day ?

Ciao tutti. I can't go as I already have something planned that night, but I just went today to the Guggenheim to see the exhibit. It was pretty thorough and included the 3 most famous futurismo works. Enjoy!
