Our Boston has really out of control skin rash, especially in the neck and stomach area. We have taken him to a vet many times, and he has gotten cortisone shots, steroid spray, antibiotics, medicated shampoo etc. Nothing seems to work. We have been feeding him Natural Balance duck and sweet potato since sometimes it is the protein you feed your dog that irritates him. We are about to take him to an allergy vet, but I wanted to find out if anyone else has had similar problems and found cure. Thanks guys.

Winston definitely gets the rash from allergies. He is allergic to grass so it is easy to avoid in Hoboken. Luckily, it goes away on its own and Winston doesn't scratch much when he gets it, but it looks awful painful. I have read it is common for the breed to develop dermatitis.

My Boston breaks out in hives all over her body periodically. I have not idea what she is allergic to, so she has been treated with Benadryl and steriods each time. It is very problematic because I will probably never figure out the source of the allergic reaction. Do any of your Bostons have this problem?

our guy got some strange rash on his back this summer and his hair was falling out around it in places. we had it tested and he actually had two types of infections, which the vet gave us two kinds of antibiotic to fight, and it is clearing up.

Our Lulu has the same problem. There are times that she would scratch herself until she starts bleeding. After a while the medicine the vet gave us wouldn't even have an effect. One thing we got is this stuff called Skin-eze. I got it from this website called allergicpets.com. Its not a steroid and it's all natural. It seems to be working. Also I got a name of a good allergy/dermatology vet. Her name is Dr Heather Pinkus at the Animal Allergy & Dermatology Specialists or something like that. The phone number is 212-206-0969. They're located at 32W 25th St. I haven't used her yet because the Skin-Eze seems to be doing the trick. She was recommended by someone I met at one of the dog runs who did use her because her French Bulldog had similar problems.

Hope this helps

What a drag. The only time my Boston has gotten a rash is from what was diagnosed as contact dermatitis from sleeping on a comforter at a hotel where they must have used some kind of harsh cleaning fluid. Based on my experience, you might check for something with your carpets, detergents and cleaning fluids as well.
