New York is the new capital of the world. Every time I have been there I was stricken by the sheer gigantism of everything. Not just its architecture (or the people, as a few cynics would gladly say) but by the cultural genius of this city. Even though it's been declining economically in the last few decades partly due to increased governmental pressure on businesses (even Rush Limbaugh went away, which most New Yorkers didn't mind actually...) it has kept a unique sense of American universalism integrating countless customs from across the world closely knit by ideals of liberty and democracy. In my mind, this city epitomizes the best of western civilization. I hope I am not being too bombastic; but that's my flow, I guess ;-)
Je défends un idéal de liberté et d'indépendance. Je considère que chaque individu est une fin en soi et doit pouvoir s'exprimer. Je suis professeur d'anglais à temps plein en Provence et passionné de culture américaine.
