Ney Melo is one of today's most talented young Argentine Tango dancers and teachers, currently touring the world. He is known for his innovative teaching methods and passion for teaching. His tango instruction is sought out by beginning and advanced dancers, as well as other teachers and choreographers from all over the world. The atmosphere in his classes is relaxed, personable and lively, and he places equal emphasis on the lady's role as the man's. Technique and the essence of tango, both fundamental to dancing well, are stressed in whatever step is being shown. He is dedicated to inspiring students to dance tango with feeling, musicality, cadencia, and connection - the way it is danced in Buenos Aires.Ney grew up in New York CIty and received a scholarship to the prestigious Regis High School in Manhattan. After University, Ney worked for a Wall Street investment bank but after Sep 11 he discovered tango and left his career to pursue his dream in Buenos Aires. His story has been featured on Yahoo! News (Sep 2011-see video below), NY Times (Sep 2011), CBC Documentary (Sep 2011), Miami.com (April 2010), and CNBC (2006).Ney has studied tango with masters of the Villa Urquiza and modern salon styles of tango. He and his long-time partner Jennifer Bratt are two of the most watched tango salon dancers on youtube. Their tango school "TangoVida", established in the Nob Hill section of San Franciso in 2007, was responsible for reintroducing the traditional salon style to the young generation of West Coast tango dancers.Ney is the creator of Tango Television on youtube which showcases the best tango dancers currently on the scene as well as rare footage of milongueros who shaped the dance. In addition to his busy travel schedule and trips to Buenos Aires, Ney can be found teaching classes and private lessons right here at Dance Manhhattan.
