Who attended?

  • 250 attendees
    •  The venue had a lot of potential, but there were lots of A/V issues that prohibited the first presentation from being heard well. The quality of the attendees was good, but the event didn't reach it's full potential.
    •  This group gets a nice cross-section of attendees from the tech, media, and advertising industries.
    •  I think the presenters should really think about how to keep their presentations punchy and interesting as the audience is likely to lose attention if the presentation quality or mechanics are sub par. When they sign up for the event the presenters should be encouraged to rehearse at least once before the big day as this is a "show" with a slightly fickle audience and an unusual auditorium.
    •  I know you guys are already working on the technical aspects of the new location. Not much else to say other than I had loads of fun! :-)
    •  Liked the presentations. Webgrrls, Yelp and Contexts were really good. Liked the informal setting.
    •  I thought the presentations were not strong. The crowd didn't listen. I was unable to understand the first presenter because too many people were speaking. The second presentation was okay. The third presentation was good, but would have been better with real Q&A feedback. The fourth presentation was okay. I was hoping for more involvement from the audience with questions and discussion. I also thought the presentations were generally pretty lackluster. The networking part was great. I enjoyed meeting people and had interesting conversations and came away feeling inspired. I will definitely attend more.
    •  Too loud and that Contxts presenter was totally SEXIST. Presentations way too diffuse. I learned nothing; felt like sitting through really dumb ads. While people were talking. But not to me.
    •  A great way to tap into the NY web scene. Amazing people in attendance and a great crew of organizers.
    •  Liked the presentations...particularly Boxee. Met some great people I hope to do business with who have terrific ideas/companies. Very good night.
    •  I enjoyed meeting interesting people, but no one could hear the presenters, and some presenters could do with more practice and a more serious tone.
    •  Good presentations and good networking...

I thought this was a great place to meet new people in the industry and network. However the presentations did not catch my attention enough for me to stop my conversation with the people I was chatting with. I would suggest that the presenter be on some sort of platform so that the crowd can see who is speaking, especially with the venue and the number of people that were there. But overall, terrific event and I will definitely be back!
    •  Great team, good presenters, drink specials a plus, FANTASTIC NETWORKING! The organizers make it an effort to introduce people. I am reading comments about people not networking: You have to make an effort to meet others. Not everyone will go to you! Ask Bret or Oz for an introduction and they'll be more than happy to do so!
    •  It was pretty loud during company presentations otherwise was pretty good. The only problem was it was difficult to follow or hear speakers and follow presentation.
    •  I know this Meetup is one of the most popular in NYC...and I can definitely see why!
    •  The new venue wasn't terrible. I read someone else's comment about your moving into a new space so I can understand that there be some technical problems (it happens). I think the other attendees should really respect all of the hard work that is put into setting up an event: Time, MONEY, and heart & soul. I know the NextWeb team is very devoted to this community, so they'll always have me as a member!
    •  Brett always throws a great meetup!
    •  The event may be a good place to meet people in the area, but is very low in content. Having being there for the first time, I found it hard to have a common theme to discuss. A suggestion would be to select one of the companies to give a more technical presentation about their platform. This could spark some interesting discussion of ideas.
    •  I enjoyed the event - Great networking, list of companies presenting, and atmosphere. A little noisy, but it happens at all events!
    • Federico Lara ViCaDi (+2 guests)

    • M Ameres (+1 guest)

    • Steven Melfi (+1 guest)
