Let's get started!

For our inaugural meetup, we'll do a quick run-through of the process of building and testing the Angular source code and submitting a Github Pull Request. The process can be intimidating for the uninitiated, so we'll start by making sure everyone has the same baseline knowledge. After that, we'll get down to business and start going through some open issues and feature requests.

Haven't contributed to Angular before? Not sure where you can help? That's fine, this is a great meetup to attend if you're interested but not sure where you can hook in.

Come with some ideas for what you'd like to work on!

to be completely clear, the setup we went through tonight was for building angular from the source, running the tests, etc. for the purpose of contributing to the framework. if you just want to start learning angular, the setup process for getting started is a lot less involved. check out the tutorial that's currently available at http://docs.angularjs.org/tutorial

you can also get up and running quickly with a basic angular app at http://plnkr.co/tags/angularjs

good luck, let me know if those links help.

I am completely new to Angular JS.
Are there any setup instructions for newbies?
If it takes an hour (if everything works on first attempt) to setup environment with all dependencies, that looks like an overkill....
Any easier way with Eclipse plugins or IntelliJ or some other IDE?

P.S. I am a pro developer, but more on Java/Flex side (did use JS years ago too, without any frameworks)

Gah! RSVP opened up, but I already have other plans. Gonna change my RSVP to no, so someone else can make it :) I'll definitely hit up the next one! Enjoy!

unfortunately, yes. we had to make a call on this earlier today. the weather seems to have calmed down, but unfortunately we're still cancelled. i've rescheduled the meetup for Thursday, February 25th. I'll be updating this now.

snow indeed. we'll play it by ear and if things are apocalyptically bad enough to warrant canceling the meetup, I'll let you guys know. as of now though, we're on! apologies to folks coming in from out of the city, but I hope to see you all there. ffVC is generously supplying pizza and beer!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
