Walk and Picnic on the plateau, with a beautiful panorama: Plateau de Cavillore
Distance from parking lot: 5,3km; Time: 3 hours; Vertical height: 300mt;
Don't think flipflops will cut it ......

The Village's origins are lost in the mists of time. In the distant past, this isolated rock was used as a place of refugeand defence. The Romans had already occupied the region. In fact, 1.5 Km to the North West there is a fortified camp with a double enclosure and oppidum.
Gourdon, as it appears to us, gives us a perfect idea of a Feudal village.
It is built on a peak whose impressive slopes will, after many hundreds of rock falls, end their days in the Loup river. There is only one entrance, from which you can access the main street. In former times, it was defended by a simple and harmonious Roman gate. Unfortunately, it was demolished at the beginning of the century. Thick, high ramparts close off the North side, which is the only point from which the village can be approached.
How to get there.
Gourdon is perched village located about 20km from Grasse. It high up on a cliff. It is a very scenic
village especially on a clear day since you can see a distance from the lookouts in the village. It is
also known for pain d'epice (honey gingerbread). It looks like it is difficult to get to the village by
bus.
There is twice-a-day TAM bus that runs from Grasse to Cipieres and Greolieres and stops in
Gourdon. It is TAM bus 512.
By car it can be reached in 30��� through the route D3, after Cagnes sur Mer, Vence, or via Grasse/
Pre du Lac: there is a free parking lot over a rond�� at the main entrance of the village.
Ideal meeting point and time: Gourdon Parking Lot over the rond�� at 11.00am
