Here's the deal. I've been thinking about a wine bus and winery tour for some time. Then I talked to Dana a few months ago and he, without knowing I had been thinking about doing this, started talking to me about this wine bus and winery tour he does every year. And now, whoop, here it is!
The way this works is that everyone will bring one bottle of wine. We'll have different varietals. Right now we're planning sauvignon blanc, zinfandel, merlot and chardonnay. Yes, frigging Merlot for you Sideways fans. To make this work, we'll divide people into 4 groups and let you know what type to bring when it gets closer to the event.
The bus will leave my place at 10 AM (you need to be there before 10 as the bus leaves at 10 with our without you - that's why it's at my place, that way I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it).
At 10:45 we arrive at St. Croix Vineyards. We'll spend an hour there (that means we leave at 11:45 for those who have difficulty with math).
At 12:30 we arrive at Chateau St. Croix Vineyards. We'll spend an hour and 15 minutes there (leave at 1:45).
At 2:00 we arrive at Dancing Dragonfly. Dancing Dragonfly is a brand new winery. It's large like Chateau St. Croix and conveniently close. We'll spend an hour and a 1/2 there (leave at 3:30).
We then make the long trek to Vino in the Valley. At Vino, we'll have more wine and have dinner. We'll leave Vino at 7 PM and head back to the pick up point (aka my place).
At 8.:30 the bus should arrive back in Plymouth.
Everyone will be turning over the bottle of wine they brought to Dana and me. In between the wineries, so that it's not boring, we'll be opening these and doing a tasting. I expect to be totally sloshed by noon. It's be awesome!
Do bring some snacks and maybe a some non alcoholic refreshment just to keep hydrated. The bus is air conditioned (it's August, so this is a good thing). And it had a bathroom. This will be a very good thing somewhere around 1/2 way through the trip.
That's the basics. The cost is $25 plus Paypal fees which brings the total to $26.05. No refunds, but you can give you spot to someone else if you can't make it.
You should also bring some money for the tastings at the winery and for dinner an other expenses. The $25 just covers the wine bus for the day (and tip for the driver).
Feel free to invite friends. Just have them sign up and pay, or you can pay for them. I don't care, long as I gets my money. Speaking of getting my money. There are always a few Luddites who don't use Paypal. If you wish to pay with a check, just drop me a line and I'll send you my email. Or you can pay me cash when you see me at another meetup. Or I can run your credit card through my little Paypal cell phone gizmo.
