LOCATION Change!!! Our hidden gem was discovered!! Some "Christian Church Group" ( I'm seeing some Conservative Calvinist Cult - (( Please denote humor here)) ...has rented the pavilion and sand court for the night till 9pm. After some panic, I have searched out and Roseville's Central Park no longer has Leagues so it is first come first served. I will be there early. I hope this does not change your plans to attend!! Park is located near County Rd C and Lexington, and Sand Volleyball courts are located NE of parking lot, and can be seen from Lexington and County Rd C. West of small Lake/pond. 4 courts, small pavilion, no plug ins so all potluck stuff should be room temp or less. Jennifer ( MY GF ) has graciously offered her place ( 2 minutes away, for a bonfire after games/food/tourney. Direction provided at event.
This is the BIG end of summer shin-dig. Yes, volleyball in the sand, but we will also have badminton, and our 1st annual Beanie Bag Toss Tournament, with INSIGNIFICANT prizes!!
On the Beanie Bag Tourney, pick a partner ( or one will be provided ) and you will be placed on the Tourney Board and will square off against some equally feeble competition. You WIN, you advance. You lose, and sand volleyball and Birdies ( badminton ) are your nights entertainment. Start singing Bye Bye Birdie toons or something.
Insignificant prizes will be awarded for the top 4 teams ( 8 peeps ) during the potluck.
On the Potluck, please bring substantive food ( chips or cookies don't count, but are encouraged if you would like them also ), and your own beverage.
I was going to REALLY blow this out with Clowns and pony rides and a fireworks show, but budget constraints ( sparklers have gotten to be really expensive, and we currently have enough clowns...ha!! ) so we will go with a Traveling Trophy for the 1st Annual Beanie Bag Tourney!!!
Rest of our normal bio is listed below. We are a good group of friends who encourage you to join in the fun!!
We are listed on a couple sites so don't let the lack of numbers fool you. Whether we were indoors playing WALLYBALL or out doors in the SAND, we have a good core group that is very welcoming of newcomers.
Our game can be kinda "slap ball", and we use a special Ed ball, ( softer and more of a equalizer for all skill levels ), so if your a "purist" of sand volleyball, you might find yourself taking a step down in your competitive nature.
But what we may lack in prowess, we make up for in our sociability. It is our focus to have some excersise amongst friends. I have been doing this for about 2 years, and we find the modifications, along with the RIGHT mindset on it's participants, really encourages the beginner as well as the experienced to have a great night of fun!! We know we are doing it right when most points end in LAUGHTER rather than a victory yell.
We have had GREAT numbers for both seasons of our events. With that said, there is but one sand court, so I encourage you to bring Frisbee, badminton, ( I bring bean bag toss ). So if the court gets overly crowded, we can rotate in and out with others just hang'in or staying active with other entertainment.
Directions: 35E to Little Canada exit, east on Little Canada, take 1st possible left ( north ) on Centerville, then 1st possible right on ELI Rd, park is on right hand side, right away!! Parking Lot provided.
I would encourage you to join us for a chance to get know each other. Some can't make the games, but know to find us after 8:45'ish for the social mixer. Let me know in your RSVP.
