Here is a review from Docklands News:
"Sunday nights have been given new meaning as the James Squire waterside bar brings 80s rock inspired entertainment to Docklands.
Renowned as Australia’s greatest ever 80s tribute show, Stand and Deliver have made a lasting impression since they kicked off New Year’s Eve at the venue and have attracted a major following to the area.
They have now firmly planted their position into Sunday nights, drawing regular weekly crowds of up to 180 to James Squire.
The five-piece band inspired by the era that brought us spandex and hair spray overuse provide the ultimate show in combining Duran Duran-Van Halen style stage charisma with explosive glam rock.
Owner David James says that since the Sunday sessions were launched in mid-January, the night continues to bring new faces to the area.
“You never get the same crew every week,” he said. “No one is left having a bad night, everyone is just up and dancing.”
The magnificent upstairs function room at James Squires at NewQuay Central provides the perfect centrepiece for the evening with breathtaking views spanning all along the harbour up to Etihad Stadium.
The night is a true crowd-pleaser offering free entry to all as well as free bubbles from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Festivities kick off every Sunday from 7.30pm rounding up at 11.30pm.

Have just returned from a weekend away and seen all these posts. Thanks to all my friends who have supported me. As far as I am concerned, if you don't like a particular venue or meetup, then simply don't attend! In not attending a member is not qualified to give an opinion on the event as far as I am concerned so all further similar posts from such members should be ignored and we should concentrate on having a fantastic time and meeting nice people, which is the whole ethos of Meetup! Let's party on, folks! Love you all!

Vicki, thanks for saying I & others make meetup a success. I did however, after the original comments were posted, check rsvps. On the 3 groups this was on there was a total of 33 rsvps before the event.

There's always drop outs in the 24 hours prior to the event. So rsvp number is close - ppl would've dropped out on the day. The difference in numbers is due to no-shows.

I didn't see any humor in original comment but read it as criticising the difference in number of attendees to stated, the location, as well as suggesting Michelle shouldn't have bothered.

Organisers & assistant organisers don't falsify figures. What i do is (& assume others), when i multi-post the one meetup on a few or more groups, post a + next to the rsvp.
Some people want to know how many ppl might be there as they're uncomfortable in large groups. Alternately, some people prefer meetups that are large, as they find very small numbers too intimate.

I had written much more in a kindly manner but for some reason couldn't post it. Please read this in the kind & non critical manner i wrote it

Peter.... That's fine by me. If defending a friend is wrong then so be it. I am disgusted at what has gone on here and as you know I did not post the first comment that was quite derogatory. I am happy to now remove myself from this group... As a leader and a person who sited the first post made by Vicki ... Putting me in this position is uncalled for.

Vicki.... This has to be a joke as the only reason for my reply to your very first comment was that you directed it toward Michelle and it was derogatory ... Anyone who knows me knows that l am not a bully and I am a very respectful person. You wrote the Post, and now you are trying to turn this around and blame me... It's not going to happen Vicki... I know the type of person l am... And a bully is not one of them.

Are you kidding me Vicki!! If l remember rightly you were the one that started off your post by saying, '33 people???? Ziegfried finds it hard to believe herr Schmart....' I believe you are now backtracking as your comments were derogatory!!! There was no bullying on my part, Vicki! If you are willing to post comments such as the one you posted then of course there are going to be those who take offence. At no time did l bully anyone. Remember Vicki you are the one that posted that comment directly to Michelle...that to me is BULLYING! HOW DARE YOU MAKE OUT THAT I HAVE CAUSED ANY FORM OF BULLYING TO OCCUR. Take a good look at yourself before you write any Posts.

The intended message was about the emerging trend in meet ups of falsifying numbers attending events.

    And quite independently....

I understand there are great people out there who generously give their unpaid time (with the exception of a couple of people who are gaining a financial benefit as promoters) and heart felt efforts into putting up events.

Michelle should be recognised as (and is definitely recognised as) one of those. She who has hosted some great (and very successful) events and I have attended and enjoyed at least one of these.

Thanks Michelle and others such as Chris and all the other hosts that make meetup such a fabuolus social success in Melbourne.

And to the previous respondent..I think when a person head tackles members who make comments that are not 100 per cent positive, they can (albeit inadvertedly)easily end up doing the very thing that they think they are trying to protect others from with their defence ....yes..bullying

Hi Chris, yes those comments were deleted and as l stated the comment that was made was derogatory and l wasn't going to stand by without supporting Michelle. What some people have to understand is that most of those who take it upon themselves to Host a meetup do it because they love it and they love the Social aspect. It takes a lot of time and effort to Host a Meetup. As l said previously in my deleted Post, Michelle does a wonderful job.

If anyone knows how much you can enjoy meetup, & how much time can be spent posting & hosting it's me.
      - especially as i try to be thorough re info, directions, etc. And not easy sometime as some bars & cafes don't even have a FB page, let alone a website

Hey Oxiante, easiest tip is to follow the tram line, or get the tram, past Ettihad to the very last tram stop on Docklands Bvd (stop D11, i think). Them walk to the waterside promenade then walk further along to the last bar on the promenade (only a few mins walk).
Or find the New Quay Buffet at Ettihad end of the promenade, then walk alongside the water towards the City Link bridge (blue lights). And next time, maybe ask in any venue - they're used to ppl asking
