New Meetup: Sandy Hook Bike Ride - 10 miles

From: Erin K.

Announcing a new Meetup for The NJ Biking, Eating & Drinking Group!

What: Sandy Hook Bike Ride & Happy Hour - 10 miles

When: Friday, June 4,[masked]:30 PM

Where:
Sandy Hook
Gateway National Rec Area
Monmouth, NJ 07732

Since this is such a popular ride, we're going to squeeze another one...this time as a happy hour ride!

About a 10 mile round trip pedal, this ride is all on the paved trail path with great views. Really scenic, great for beginners as it's both flat and straight. Afterward, we'll hit up the Clam Hut for drinks and seafood (if the weather is nice, we can sit out on the deck over the water!).

There is parking available once you cross the bridge over to Sandy Hook. Traffic can be pretty congested so make sure you give yourself plenty of time! We'll plan on meeting in the first parking lot, look for the bright blue yaris and/or a group of bikers. I'll give everyone my cell in the pre-ride email so if for any reason you have to park in one of the other lots, you'll still be able to find us.

Helmets and gloves are always recommended as are water/snacks, you never know when you'll need them. Also, it can get a bit windy on the Hook so bring layers.

Check out the route here (courtesy of our friends with the Jersey Shore cycling group).

NOTE: Sandy Hook does charge a $10/parking fee during the season; but not after 4PM, so looks like free parking for all!! It's possible others know of this loophole, so be patient when looking for parking and bring my cell# in case you need to call to find us. Public restrooms are available at various points throughout the ride; however, no guarantees they'll all be open.
