About This Class - Beginner Level

Fun, informative hands-on workshop. Learn how to make live, PROBIOTIC fermented vegetables. We will discuss food safety and make 3 recipes - sauerkraut, carrot slaw, and a surprise - together.

This workshop is hands-on. We will be chopping and shredding, and sharing stories and wisdom. Bring clean glass jars with lids -any kind of glass jar will do - to take samples home.

About the Instructor

Elyssa Serrilli caught the fermentation bug five years ago during an internship at Rancho Mastatal, a sustainable living and education center in Costa Rica. At the 2009 SE Permaculture Convergence, she shared community and made sauerkraut w/ the unforgettable Sandor Katz Elyssa recently launched Tended Live Cultures (TLC), a fermented food business in Hunterdon County, NJ to make locally crafted live, fermented food available in the Garden State.

    Hello Friends ~ Thank you so much for your interest and enthusiasm in fermentation. I love it! And we will share wisdom and practice at a later date. Due to low/ late enrollment, we are postponing this workshop until November or December. I spoke w/ Kath of Chow and Zen last night, and at that time we only had 4 people signed up. To meet my costs (travel, prep, supplies, printing), I need at least 6-10 people. If you have a preferred date for a reschedule, please post it here and we will try to work w/ your request.
