Contaminants, like those produced by fracking and through application of synthetic fertilizers, are especially dangerous and should be outlawed. We should start to move our base of governing to watershed areas, because these contaminants do not disappear and whole watersheds are affected by there use. I also believe in growing our local organic food system. Moving agriculture away from "conventional" or rather chemical farming. This will help our health, the planet's, and reduce climate change. The population needs to know about these things that big business would rather we don't. It's nice to let others take care of things for us, but this is why 1% of the countries' population now has 70% of the money.
We showed the movie "A Chemical Reaction" in Montclair and encouraged the viewers to make a difference. Montclair now has their own chapter of Safe Lawns working to restrict public use of synthetic fertilizers. They have supported a bill that was put before the New Jersey Government restricting the use of these chemicals.
I would like Community Green to inspire members to go out and start their own awareness campaigns, and actively work to change the system to a more local, earth friendly way of life. We will help you publicize your events.
I run the Mountain Lakes Organic Co-op, CommunityGreen Meetup and teach Environmental Management. I'm also on Mountain Lakes's Shade Tree Commission and Environmental Commission and run our Sustainable Jersey Green Team.
Its proactive and effective.
