2011 CONSUMER CHALLENGE: Stop buying more "STUFF". Instead, give of yourself. Spend time with a loved one. Help them clean out their garage, write them a poem, write a story for a child, teach them something, make them something out of leftover stuff you already have, volunteer together. Concerned about supporting the economy? Give experience instead of more STUFF: massage, day at the spa, visit a museum, go to dinner, help them get a library card, membership to a museum or group, take a class together. As a child, each year my grandmother took me on an adventure for my birthday gift. A trip to NYC, museum or garden. I remember those days way more than any toy or trinket!
My 8 year old nephew saw my step mom throwing out a piece of paper & reminded her to put it in the "paper garbage". When she told him she had none, he folded it & put it in his pocket. “We have to save the planet. I’ll take it home & recycle it.” 25 yrs ago trying to get my office to recycle. I began keeping a box under my desk for used paper. I felt I had to do MY part. Today, blue bins are allover & my email tag line with tree icon to consider the environment B4 printing is catching on!
Work together as a community to learn, grow and help others to make green choices for a sustainable future. I LOVE trees and believe that reforesting the urban areas works on so many levels. I could use some help with this project. The really big tree in my pictures is the Chandler Oak n Savannah, GA - nearly 300 years old. That's community commitment!
No one can do everything, but everyone can do something! I sell green renewable energy, plant trees, garden, hike and host a monthly dinner & a movie for the NJ Sierra Club to educate & encourage others to make a difference. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
No one can do everything but everyone can do something. Together we are most powerful.
