Announcing a new Meetup for Community Green Meetup!

What: "Hidden Green Gem Hike" - Schooley's Mountain

When: July 12,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Our Schooley's Mountain Park hike will be the first in our "Hidden Green Gem" series of hikes intended to introduce people to local hikes that may not be well known but nevertheless are of surprising quality. Schooley's Mountain County Park is nestled among the hills of western Morris County near Hackettstown. The park offers visitors 797 acres of active and passive recreation facilities.

From I-80, go S on US 206 for 4.4 miles (or alternative take 206 Northbound from the south and come to this same point). Turn West on Bartley Rd (County 612). Go 3.5 miles and turn R on Naughright Rd Go 2.2 miles and turn L on East Springtown Rd. Go 0.5 miles and turn L into park entrance. Go to the parking lot at the end of the park entrance road.

The hike is mostly "easy" but with one semi-rugged section involving rocky outcrops and a water fall, and later, an uphill section leading to a pleasant vista overlooking surrounding rural farmland. Bring the usual snacks, water, sun protection (although the woodland hike is well shaded), and if you'd like, bug spray (preferably of the non-toxic DEET-free kind).
