Star Wars: The Old Republic New Player Virtual / Lan Party

Join the battle!

Hello All,

Many of us are now playing Old Republic, on random nights of the week- and a few people have asked me when we're playing so they can join us.  After thorough consultation with the Jedi Council, it was determined an old fashioned LAN party (or really, wi-fi party) was the best solution to both play video games AND hang out with friends.

Star Wars: the Old Republic is now Free-to-Play, meaning anyone can try it out for free.  And when I say anyone, I mean anyone with a really good computer, as the requirements are fairly heavy.  But if you have a computer that can play it, download it and give it a try with some friends.  If you have a laptop that can play it, come by the house and we'll eat chips and drink soda and blast or slash bad guys.  We also have a private VoIP server, so even if you are not here, you can be merry with the sillyness.

You can download the game by going to and clicking the "Play Free Now" button.  The game requirements are as follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better / Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0 GHz or better.
OS: Windows XP with 1.5GB RAM or higher / Windows Vista/7 with 2GB RAM or higher / PCs using built-in graphic chipsets, 2GB RAM is recommended.
8x DVD-ROM or faster.
VIDEO: ATI X1800 or better* / NVIDIA 7800 or better* / Intel 4100 or better* / *256MB minimum video RAM / *Shader 3.0 or better fully compatible graphics card

Our chat server is downloaded via:

When you download it, the server is  V81.DARKSTARLLC.COM
the port is 3835

and it has no password.

As noted, the game is Free-to-Play, and the only restrictions are on the character, not the content (you don't run as fast or get bonus XP, but you can still group with friends and experience the storyline).

We will be having 2 events next Thursday:  A leveling-up session for characters under 10, and a special flashpoint mission (called the Esseles) for characters 11-14.  Feel free to ask any questions here.
