some web programs and contests

I know these aren't Ruby specific, but I thought I'd share the information
anyway in case someone finds something useful in it.

Microsoft has three programs they're offering for web development
companies/projects. There's Webspark for 10 or less developers
(http://www.micros...), Bizspark for small companies
and start-ups and Dreamspark for students. There's also a Microsoft
technology competition for students called the Imagine Cup
(http://www.imagei...). Microsoft has increased PHP support in their
servers to catch up with Apache, so they are hoping for more PHP
development on their platforms. Another contest they're having is the
great PHP on Windows contest with more details at
Microsoft representatives didn't cover anything about better Ruby support
at the conference I attended, but they did mention FastCGI, which sounds a
lot like Apaches plug-ins such as modperl where you don't have to shell
out and have a lot of instances of an interpreter running at once.
