Ever since the first time I read 'A Wrinkle in Time', I've wanted to write things that could transport people to a happier, mystical world. Harry Potter also helped, when they came along. More recently, Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods' has become one of my favorite books, so I'd say it's probably had some influence here and there.
I'm working on finishing my first fantasy novel at the moment (and have the next four outlined...a bit ambitious, I know, but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead), I'm also outlining my next fantasy book, which is a YA dystopian that I'm really looking forward to starting. I'm going to force myself to finish the first one before I move on though. I just submitted my first story to Writers of the Future and I'm started on the story for next quarter.
Life is stressful, writing helps. I'm mostly in to fantasy/sci-fi. For the longest time I was all about novel length projects, but I'm quickly finding out just how much fun short stories are too!
