Not going to send messages like this out often, but I heard from Eli Hayes at sparkrelief.org that they're looking for some volunteer help with a node.js project. See his email below.
Sparkrelief would love to work with New York node.js developers (UX/UI guys and front end devs too) who want to improve disaster relief coordination for Sandy and beyond with Sparkrelief.org We want to build out more advanced filtering on a few categories of relief, a volunteer center where we can automatically coordinate volunteers, and a text based request and offer system for those who don't have web access in the field.
