Meet kindred book lovers in a local Meetup Book Club! We'll choose a work of classic or contemporary fiction each month and share the joys of good literature and good company.

We typically meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11am at the Sound Cafe' in the Marigny to discuss our MAIN SELECTION -- classic or superior contemporary fiction. We try to keep it around 300 pages.
Depending on the interest and availability of regular Members, we also meet in various locations around town -- public and private -- for the following discussions:
SHORT STORIES : we discuss in one sitting 2 pieces -- only the best of short stories -- available online and/or in one of the two following anthologies. "Fifty Great Short Stories", M. Crane, ed. and "The Art of the Short Story", by D. Gioia.
NOVELLAS : we discuss a classic work. A novella is typically 60 to 150 pages... though we sometimes err close to or past 200.
PLAYS : we discuss a classic play from the 19th or 20th century. 50 to 100 pages.
"OVER THE EDGE" NOVELS : in tandem with the Bizarre Book Club, also on meetup.com, we discuss a novel that is somewhat disturbing in its content. If there is a movie version, we might also meet for a private viewing.
SCIENCE FICTION : we discuss a classic work.
"THE SUN" MAGAZINE : we discuss the last one or last two issues -- upon approval, specific articles of older issues are also acceptable for discussion.
FRENCH NOVELS IN TRANSLATION : in tandem with the French Language meetup group, we discuss in English a short classic novel.
