Join us this Thursday evening for showing the one-hour documentary "IF WE HAD NO MOON".

Followed with a discussion opened to all on the larger question: "Is our universe fine-tuned for life?"

Private residence in Lakeview: 606 Florida Blvd, NOLA 70124. At corner of Hawthorne, blue-gray raised cottage. One block west of Canal Blvd. One block south of I-610.

Please try to bring refreshments.

Doors open at 6:45p. Film starts at 7:15. Discussion will be over by 9:15.

There will likely be as many opinions as there will be people in attendance -- if not more. LOL! This is not about correctness.

Co-sponsored by the Intelligent Conversation meetup group and the Film Club meetup group.

For more info, contact Guy Henoumont anytime at[masked] or at [masked] .

Product Description for IF WE HAD NO MOON dvd (Discovery Channel).

"What would life on earth be like without the moon? Well, chances are, there wouldn't be any life on earth without the moon. Life - if it had started at all - would still be in the earliest stages of evolution. Scientists use the latest computer simulations to show how an ancient rogue planet - Orpheus - collided with the earth millions of years ago, producing a sizable chunk of debris that eventually became our moon. If that collision had never occurred, we would live in a very different place. [...]"

In other words, "is the universe designed for us?" -- to use Victor J. Stenger's subtitle of his new book THE FALLACY OF FINE TUNING. Or "Oh boy, aren't we lucky to live on a planet that is exactly right to support our needs as a species?"

To educate yourself on the issue and its various questions, you can go online and prepare yourself for our discussion.
