SantaCon is a mass gathering of New Yorkers DRESSED in their various interpretations of SANTA CLAUS costumes and performing publicly on streets, major sites, and in bars throughout New York City! The focus is on spontaneity, creativity, and the improvisational nature of human interaction, while having a good time and spreading the season's cheer & goodwill to EVERYONE we come across in NYC!

This will be a very bizarre but fun New York experience for us Non-Cultured folks! Come and Join Us! Literally thousands of New Yorkers dress up as Santa, Mrs Claus, or Elves, and meet at a designated spot in Manhattan. We're only given where the start point is a day or so in advance (a bit like a secret santa society. lol) ... it's also a little like a scavenger hunt where we are are led to different destinations around the city.. major tourist sites, pubs, parks, etc .. no one knows the next destination until it's time to leave and u start hearing shouts, "Santa's On the Move!," and your eyes will feast on hundreds of Santas migrating together to the next destination! On this strange day long journey in NYC, you'll meet lots of people (mostly 20s to 40s) who forget that they're lawyers, accountants, teachers, etc and they go absolutely nuts, drinking, singing, pretending theyre actually Santa Claus to the public... it's sooo much fun and it is an EYEFUL!

SantaCon is noted for cheerfully bawdy and harmless behavior, including the singing of naughty seasonal songs, and the giving of small gifts and free hugs to random strangers! Bring candy canes or other candy to hand out. You might get some smart aleck remarks from the normally dressed public, but when u hand them that candy cane, they turn into mush! lol This is also just a great way for 1001ers to have a good time hanging out together and running wild throughout the city! Don't bring expectations, just kick back with us for a relaxing great time and fun! Note: SantaCon embraces all religions :P It's a season of goodwill and promise for the new year and we'll be out to spread the cheer!

LET'S ALL DRESS UP LIKE SANTA AND PAINT THE TOWN RED! :D

If you don't know...

SantaCon is a not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious & non-logical Santa Claus convention, attended for absolutely no reason other than it's FUN!!!

Santa's Rules:

• Santa looks like Santa. HOLIDAY APPAREL IS MANDATORY.
A Santa hat is not enough. Get a Santa suit. Buy a Santa suit.
Make a Santa suit. Steal a Santa suit. Get creative: be a Secret Santa,
a Santasaurus, Candy-cane, a Reindeer, a Chanukah Chicken,
a goddamn latke, Stewardess Santa, Knight Rider Santa, Crusty Peace
Punk Santa, the occasional Legless Reindeer, Chanukah Squirrel,
Emo-Elf .... Just don't wear plain old jeans!
• Santa acts like Santa. Be jolly. Belly-laugh.
Let people sit on your lap. Give out gifts.
• Santa doesn't seek media attention.
"Ho-ho-ho" is good. "Publicity ho" is lame.
• Santa doesn't get arrested.

Santa's Guidelines:

IT'S A LONG DAY, SO BE PREPARED.
Here's some tips to keep your sleigh running:
• Eat something. Santa is responsible for his own feeding!
This is New York City -- if reindeer can figure it out, so can you.
• Stay hydrated & pace yourself. Try some water in
between your milk and cookies.
• Bring a MetroCard! Santa doesn't like waiting
while hundreds of drunks attempt to use the machines.
• Santa is responsible for his own inebriation.
SantaCon is NOT a bar crawl -- it's a convention.
There will be bar stops, but they will be VERY crowded.
Santa does not advocate breaking open container laws! Santa's just sayin'...
• Pay your own bar tab and tip bartenders well for putting up with Santa.
• Dress warm. Wear layers so you'll be comfortable anywhere
from the North Pole to the strippers' pole.
• Stay with the group.
• Don't be "that" Santa.
Your friends want to have fun too, not hold your hair as you purge
your over indulgence. Or constantly having to keep an eye on you
to prevent your wastedness from wandering into traffic.
• Santa does not make children cry (unless they whine, snivel,
or otherwise deserve it). Really - If you see kids, give them nice toys,
candy, or something pleasant. Tourists and other by-standers fall
somewhere in between the two -- adjust depending on their attitude.

More details to come as we get closer to the date!
