Shiver me timbers, it's a pirate themed hootenanny at Frankie's this month!

As usual, bring food and drink and adventure tales starting with "well, Jim said he knew this shortcut...". If you want to come dressed as a pirate (eye patches! Hats! Stripes and capris!), or bring Caribbean themed food/drink, well ahoy there me maties!

Kitchen is tiny so minimal prep only (oven available for pizza-cooking) and ideally finger foods not requiring utensils or plates... no dishwasher. Bringing your own drinking vessels is also encouraged ;-)

Whole Foods has cold beer and wine and some mixers, but no hard liquor. Hint: rum goes rather well with ginger beer or grapefruit soda, and your host will be providing decent rum to all who donate to her Climate Ride fundraising campaign (need $800 by Thursday...).

Bike parking: unfortunately there's nowhere secure for bikes to be locked up. There is a secured parking spot but last week several bikes were stolen from the garage. There aren't many handy posts or signs to lock to either, so I recommend locking bikes up super securely outside Whole Foods (ample bike parking, see map).

Directions: don't go up the main steps to 180 Montecito. Just up the hill of the main steps, hidden behind a tree, you will see windows with Adventure Cycling magazines in them and sounds of bike nerd merriment spilling out! A not-so-secret staircase behind the big tree will lead you to the hidden treasure. Yo ho ho.

PS and if you haven't already, please think about supporting Frankie on her Climate Ride or she'll make ye walk the plank! Avast, ye landlubbers.

Thanks for hosting Frankie! For anyone who hasn't had a chance yet, don't forget to sponsor Frankie for her upcoming Climate Ride! The money goes to east bay + san francisco bike coalition, as well as rail-to-trails! Link: www.tinyurl.com/frankieclimateride2014

Is there going to be a pirate theme?

Sure! Folks can bring decent rum (and mixers like fiery ginger beer, grapefruit soda, lemonade, precious limes, hibiscus juice) and non-messy Caribbean eats. Whole Foods doesn't have hard liquor but has beer (Jamaican Stripe, anyone?).

Can we get some volunteers to bring some disposable cups and utensils? I'll be going by ikea beforehand and will try to remember some plates and napkins.

I can bring some plates and cups no problem.

Hi Everyone, I will come and help anyone who wants to park in the church courtyard down the hill. It's secure (though not super secure.) Meet me at 7:30 at the entrance to St. Paul's school, 116 Montecito (down the hill from Frankie's)

Aw thanks, Kent! Parking for bikes or cars is difficult in this neighborhood!

Thank you for hosting. May we use your kitchen to prepare delicious food? I'll try to take as good care with your kitchenwares as you do.

Tiny kitchen, so as long as you wash up and put away after food prep, all will be well :-)

Thanks for hosting. The snow is essentially gone so it is time to bike Tahoe area (road or trail). My ski club Lodge has reasonable bunk space (as low as $20 night). A group event or individually always welcome.

I can probably host this one - I'm in Oakland near Lake Merritt.
