Introduction
Hi, I'm Billy. Currently looking into a life long dream of writing screenplays. I've been creative all my life and expressed it mostly through playing music. At my age, it's time to chase the other dream I thought too big to pursue.
Have you ever written a script before? If so, for what medium?
I've started several. Never completed anything. I'd get frustrated because I didn't know how and all the How To books would contradicted each other. I feel now, with the classes I'm taking at Collin College, groups I'm involved in, and a better understanding of what a script is used for, I'll be more successful in my ventures (at least completing one)
Have you ever sold or self-produced a script? Have you ever had one of your scripts produced by someone else?
No, I have done a couple of short-shorts but nothing really to speak of, yet.
Why do you write? For personal pleasure/satifaction? To sell? To self-produce?
For personal satisfaction, to sell, and to self produce. As an artist, I want others to enjoy my art and personally, I feel the same about the idea of writing movies. And if I get paid to do it, that's a bonus.
Do you have a problem giving or receiving honest, constructive criticism?
Not at all. I've learned a long time ago, honest, constructive criticism is a great tool for becoming better at whatever you do. Even if you don't agree with the criticism, it will give you an opportunity to think from a different perspective, possibly.
What do you hope to get out of joining a local writer's group?
I want to learn. I became a better guitarist by surrounding myself with guitarists who, in my opinion, were better than me. Same with singing. Now, as I pursue a life long passion, I hope to learn... and also, network and possibly collaborate.
