Wednesday Evening Walk - Bothell - Possibly Sammamish River Trail

I don't know how well the Sammamish River Trail is lit at night but if we have enough people with flashlights or headlights we should have enough light.  This is a wide, flat paved trail along the Sammamish River.  If we feel it is too dark we can just walk the Downtown Bothell area and surrounding neighborhoods.  Of course there is always the option of going for a treat or margarita afterwards, too.

Directions:
From I-405, take exit 23. Head west on WA-522 West. Bear right on to Kaysner Way. Turn left at Main Street. Turn left at 102nd Avenue NE. Arrive at[masked]nd Ave NE, Bothell 98011 (just over the bridge over the highway, turn right into the parking lot).
If you are coming from the west, follow WA-522 to Kaysner Way and turn L. and follow above directions.

How good are you at juggling a leash or two, a flashlight, a poop bag, and an umbrella while wearing gloves?  Not sure, then come walk with us on Wednesday evenings.  You will get plenty of practice.

Let's continue meeting in the evening for a walk.  We will just have to stick to lighted streets and not trails.  Be sure that you are equipped to be seen in the waning light.  Bring a flashlight and/or put lights on yourself and your dogs.  I use Nite Ize Lights.  They are great little lights (come in a variety of colors) that either flash or have a steady beam and clip nicely onto the dog's collar and my zipper pull.  They are widely available at most pet stores (next to nature, All the Best) and drug stores (Bartell's).  I am open to suggestions about where you like to walk so if you have a favorite route let me know and I may post it.

Dogs in attendance must be leashed and have their owner present.

No children under the age of 12, unless they are in a stroller.

We will make it a priority to walk as a group.  Paces may be a little different but I will stop along the way for others to catch up.  Everybody needs to watch out for others.  Let somebody know if you need a break or are going to turn around/

Please check email or this site the day of the event for any last minute changes or cancellations due to weather, road closures, illness, etc.  I will try to post last minute details by 7am.

Unfortunately the rain did not let up but the trail was paved so it was still a fairly pleasant walk. Even though the trail is not lighted, with flashlights and residual light from the freeway, visibility was pretty good.

Not enough dogs to create the rain shadow effect this week. Pretty soggy evening but preferred the walk in the rain to staying in and watching it. It actually wasn't pitch black, with head lamps we were visible and there were enough lights from the Hwy and surrounding businesses and residences to be able to make things out. No scarier than walking around my own neighborhood on a winter evening.

Meeting place - just off of Main St on 102nd(before crossing the bridge over 522) in the park and ride lot near the 102nd (2nd) ave bridge.
Bring your flashlight or head lamp. If we have enough light we will walk the Sammamish River Trail (which has no lights) towards the UW Bothell Campus(which is well lit), through the campus and back through Bothell.
I did this loop yesterday evening between 6 and 7. I think if we carry enough light we should be fine. If not enough people bring light (bring your own and don't depend on others) we will walk towards UW campus through Bothell and do a loop through the campus and return.
Margaritas afterwards (there is a mexican restaurant on main street)?
