Wednesday Evening Walk -Sammamish River Trail - Bothell

For the remainder of May, let's do a series of river (or creek) walks.  Most of these are flat and paved for the majority of the way.  We will walk 3-5 miles, in about 1.5 to 2 hours (starting promptly at 7 we will be done by 9pm)

This week let's do the Sammamish River Trail starting in Bothell. We will begin at the parking lot off 102nd and walk toward Blyth Park, then take the upper trail back and if time we can walk in the other direction to UW Bothell and make a loop back through Bothell.

This trail is shared by cyclists so dogs need to be on short leashes when on the main trail (no retractable leashes unless fully retracted).  There is a spot in Blythe park where there is river access so dogs can get wet or a drink to cool off if need be. I believe this is paved the whole way and Austin knows where the moles hide out so watch out.

Directions:
From I-405, take exit 23. Head west on WA-522 West. Bear right on to Kaysner Way. Turn left at Main Street. Turn left at 102nd Avenue NE. Arrive at[masked]nd Ave NE, Bothell 98011 (just over the bridge over the highway, turn right into the parking lot).
If you are coming from the west, follow WA-522 to Kaysner Way and turn L. and follow above directions.

Remember that the weather is getting warmer and access to the river may not always be possible (but is in some cases) so bring along water for your dogs and yourself.

Dogs in attendance must be leashed and have their owner present.

Children under the age of 12 must be in a stroller, leashed or have a separate handler than the dog. They are not allowed to walk the dog and must be respectful and stay away (unless invited) from dogs that are not their own.

We will make it a priority to walk as a group.  Paces may be a little different but I will stop along the way for others to catch up.  Everybody needs to watch out for others.  Let somebody know if you need a break or are going to turn around/

Please check email or this site the day of the event for any last minute changes or cancellations due to weather, road closures, illness, etc.  I will try to post last minute details by 7am.

I love these Wednesday evening walks. Always a great group. It was another beautiful evening in a beautiful setting. All the dogs were well behaved and not one had issues with the bikes. Good job everyone. Thanks for coming and see you all again soon.
Apparently we are the cutest dog walking group. :)

Sorry, I can't make it. I've got too much going on with moving apartments.

Looks like I will need to work late and won't be able to make it on time. I hope to catch up with you on a future walk!

Just a reminder, meet in the parking lot just over the bridge from downtown Bothell - It is marked Sammamish River Trail(not the park and ride lot where we have met before in the dark). I drive a blue Hyundai Tucson, so look for that. We start walking pretty much on time so that we can finish before dark. See you all tomorrow.

I confirm Kathy's reply, that this trail is used by bicyclists. Dog should be kept on short leash. There are few turns and bridges where upcoming traffic is not well visible.
My dog is also not big fan of cyclists and I had to keep eye on her. Hopefully after 7 pm it will be few riders there.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
